Building Learning Environments for 21st Century Learning
The digital age and advancing technology has changed the field of education. Students need to be able to access, understand, and utilize the information they are encountering each day. If we are going to successfully prepare our students for the 21st Century, we need to shift the emphasis from acquiring facts and regurgitating them onto a written paper to the process of asking questions, finding the answers, and applying what was learned to form new questions and new ideas. By adopting a district wide problem solving model, our students develop both critical thinking skills and inquiry and/or problem solving skills. In teaching our students to be confident thinkers and problem solvers, we are giving them the tools to be responsible citizens of a global community.
